Understand the Purpose of a Personal media profile

Within this report i will be discussing the purpose and use of a personal media profile and a CV alongside a cover letter. Which this i will be discussing the different formats of a CV and why they are used.

A personal profile is used to show your skill set, abilities, achievements and your personal and professional identity. It helps you to stand out to employers and shows them why you are the best fit for the position.

A CV can be either digital or physical but this depends on what you need it for. Some places may require a physical copy whereas other places may prefer you to send in a digital copy. A digital CV can make it easier when applying for a job as they are able to be easily edited and and can be updated as you progress. They can also be helpful if you are looking for things such as international employment. Digital CV’s can be available on places such as LinkedIn which allows it to be viewed easily by employers.

The purpose of a CV is to showcase your skills, experience, talents and any other attributes that aid to your performance within the specific thing you are applying for. CV’s can be used when applying for jobs and within the interviews, higher education and freelance opportunities. Most jobs require a CV along with things such as apprenticeships. CV’s can be tailored towards the specific thing that you are applying for to give you a better chance of standing out and getting the position.

A cover letter goes alongside your CV. It helps to sell your application as it acts as a personal introduction. It gives a chance to show employers why you are the best fit for the job. To do this it highlights relevant skills and experience and in order to do this it should be written with the position you are applying for in mind. They aren’t the same as a personal statement and should not be more than one A4 page. You should always include one unless instructed differently

In conclusion Personal media profiles, CV’s and cover letters are a very important part of job and other kind of applications. They show your skills and experience setting you aside from the other applicants.

He is a Cameraman, Video editor and Photographer and he includes his work on his blog. Ross has repurposed his work by embedding it in his blog using Vimeo.  However, he doesn't have a showreel. He shows his statistics of projects completed and clients worked with while also showing a fun fact about how much coffee he has drunk which shows a little bit of his personality and makes him come across more friendly and lighthearted.

This is Nathalie Lete's personal media profile. She is a digital artist and is using this blog to promote her work. An advantage of this blog is that she was able to embed images of her work. however a disadvantage is that it could be difficult to navigate. She has a contact page which has her email and phone number on allowing people to be able to contact her easily. She has repurposed her images by using them for navigation and also by embedding.
